Car Show Starts 2008 Red Cedar
Speedway Season

Menomonie WI – The Red Cedar Speedway
is set to begin the 2008 racing season and its first announced
activity will be the 2008 race car show. Slated to take place at the
Dunn Co. Rec Park on Menomonie’s east side, the show will be held on
Friday , March 21st and Saturday, March 22nd.
Along with the displaying of race
cars that will compete in the five classes that will run weekly at
the speedway, there will be a number of vendors on hand as well as
the late model simulator. On Saturday night, music will be provided
by Black Sheep Entertainment with food and liquid refreshments also
available. The best appearing car in each class will receive an
award with the five winners then entered in a “Best of Show”
competition that will be decided the second week of the dirt track
season at the speedway.
The 2008 racing schedule for the
track has also been announced. The season opener is slated for
Friday, April 11th with WISSOTA sanctioned super stocks,
Midwest modifieds, modifieds and late models as well as the Red
Cedar Pure Stocks. The Street Stocks will not be racing at the
speedway in 2008.
A full slate of exciting racing
action is planned throughout the summer with a number of special
events as well. Perhaps the biggest new addition to the track
schedule is the two day, Rumble Series event for late models slated
for Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4. This WISSOTA sanctioned
event, promoted by T’s Promotions from Aberdeen South Dakota, will
pay the feature winner $5,000. Modifieds and Pure Stocks will join
the action on July 3 with the super stocks and Midwest modifieds
running along with the big feature on Friday. Camping and live music
will add to the fun that weekend.
Midseason Championships are scheduled
for June 20th and the Northern Vintage cars will be
making two appearances at the track. Red Cedar Speedway will be
putting on an Enduro race on Saturday, July 19th . There
will be no racing during the Dunn Co. Fair this year but after the
break on August 8th, Red Cedar will return with the
Season Championships on August 15th and the IRA winged
outlaw sprints make their annual appearance on August 22nd.
The season will conclude with the 29th annual Punky Manor
Challenge of Champions on September 19th and 20th
.
