STOCK RULES
The sole intent
of this class is to provide a low cost entry level
class. These cars are to be strictly stock and
intended to stay that way. These are cars that you
race, not race cars. (ANY DEVIATION FROM THIS
INTENT OR FROM THE RULES SET FORTH WILL NOT BE
TOLERATED AND THE CAR AND DRIVER WILL BE
DISQUALIFIED FROM THE CLASS. OFFICIALS DECISIONS
WILL BE FINAL. OFFICIALS WILL DEAL WITH DRIVERS
ONLY. DRIVERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT OF
HIS PIT CREW AND WILL BE PENALIZED FOR THEIR
INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR. Red Cedar Speedway retains
the right to cancel this class at any time.
NOTE: Parents of
minors - the driver is the spokesperson for the car
(not you). WE WILL DEAL WITH THE DRIVER ONLY!
NOTE: If you
hold a license in any other class you will not
be allowed to race a pure stock!
Car and Body:
1. Car must be
stripped of all chrome moldings, emblems, and pot
metal, plastic and fiberglass to keep the track
clean. Any 1950 or newer sedan is eligible. NO
PICKUPS, RANCHEROS, EL CAMINOS OR 4WD VEHICLES.
2. Minimum stock
wheelbase allowed will be 108” full frame. NO
CAMAROS, FIREBIRDS, ETC. 110” unibody with
sub-frame installed. NO WHEEL BASE ALTERATIONS.
3. Driver
protection roll bars are required. No roll bar may
alter the geometry of the car in any manner. It can
be used only to keep the car off the driver in the
event of a roll over. Six (6) point roll cage of 1
5/8” tubing minimum. (Braced box.) CAGE MUST BE
FROM THE FRAME AND ABOVE DRIVERS HEAD. The cage may
extend back to the rear bumper, but may not extend
any farther forward than the rear of the “A” frames.
4.
Original tank must be removed and fuel cell used.
Pump gas only.
5. BUMPERS MUST
BE ANCHORED SECURELY BY BEING WELDED, CHAINED OR
BOLTED TO THE BODY. NO SHARP EDGES. NO BUMPER
HOOPS (FRONT OR REAR).
6. No bracing of
any kind any place on the car.
7. All doors
must be welded, chained or bolted shut. Door bars
allowed (maximum 1” x 1” x6’). No sharp edges.
8. All glass
must be removed from the car. NO BROKEN GLASS LEFT
IN CAR!
9. All flammable
material must be removed from the car.
10. All floor
pans and firewalls, both front and rear, must be in
place with no cutting of any kind any place on the
body. The body must remain stock and in stock
position. Wheel clearance may be cut. After market
(steel only) body parts allowed, wheel clearance may
be cut. Top of front fenders must have all stock
mounts, no cutting allowed. Must have original
hood hinges and mounts.
11. Racing seat
belts with shoulder harnesses must be in place and
used. Belts may be no older than 3 years old.
12. THE
COMPLETE BUMPER TO BUMPER STOCK CAR MUST BE
RETAINED. THERE WILL BE NO ALTERATION OF ANY KIND
TO ANY PART OF THE CAR. NO SECTIONING, CHANNELING,
CHOPPING OR ANY OTHER ALTERATION WILL BE ALLOWED.
HOODS MUST BE KEPT IN PLACE AT ALL TIMES. WHEEL
RADIUS ONLY MAY BE CUT. EXCEPTION - Stock rag
joint may be replaced with a u-joint.
13. Driver
protection bars must be on the inside of the car.
14. Aluminum
radiators will be allowed.
15. Plastic nose
cone (aftermarket or stock ) must be used.
SUSPENSION:
1.
Weight Rule: Minimum weight is 3200 pounds with
driver after the race. The top three in Heats and
top five after Feature must cross scale to weigh.
Weight may only be added to the center of the rear
axle dead center between the shock mounts. Minimum 2 1/2 inch bolts can be used to
mount weights.
2. No
modification of suspension is allowed. All parts
must be strictly stock. No spacer, no chains, no
racing suspension. Stock springs
only, no racing springs allowed. 17mm wrench must
fit over the front spring without any cleanup of
spring, 14mm must fit over the rear spring with no
clean up of spring.
3. NO SPACERS, CHAINS OR ALTERATIONS OF ANY
KIND TO THE SUSPENSION. No racing suspensions
allowed. $40.00 CLAIM ON ALL 4 SHOCKS - NO
EXCHANGE, OUTRIGHT ONLY. Claim money must be in
tech’s hand before Feature race begins. See rule 13 under
misc. Brakes must be able to lock up all 4 wheels.
4 wheel brakes are mandatory.
MOTOR CLAIM
RULE:
1. Must have
raced at Red Cedar Speedway prior to claim.
Any top 10 may claim after Feature race only.
Claimer must first scale and meet minimum weight and
then proceed to tech area. Claimer must
declare his/her intent to claim a specific engine to
tech official and hand the official $625.00 in cash.
$25 will go to the wrecker to remove engine.
It will be the responsibility of the driver claiming
to hire wrecker. It will be the responsibility
of driver being claimed to remove engine. The
claim does not include - flywheel, torque converter,
exhaust manifolds, carburetor and adapter, starter,
motor mounts, fan and pullies, water pump, fuel
pump, distributor and wires and all sending units.
Also power steering pump, activator and mounting
brackets.
2. Claim Refusal:
$500.00 fine and 2 week suspension of car and
driver. Claim money will be returned to the
driver claiming.
3. Driver may
only claim twice in one year.
ENGINE:
1. Engines which
are standard bore must use stock pistons. Engines
may be bored to a maximum of .040 over the standard
bore size. Stock type cast aluminum dished pistons,
with a minimum recess of .040 MUST be used in any
engine with an overbore. All engines, including
those that are over bored from standard size must
still adhere to the maximum compression rule. 9.5
compression rules, see Midwest Mod rules.
2. The engine
must be the same make as the chassis. GM TO GM,
Ford to Ford-Mercury-Lincoln or Mopar to
Dodge-Chrysler-Plymouth. Must have original mounts
and may not be altered in any way. STOCK CAMS ONLY!
3. Motors:
307 Olds, 305 Chevy, 302 Ford and 318 Mopar only.
No fuel injection
Stock appearing oil pans, no kickouts.
410 lift rule (Cam rule will be clarified for 2010
season)
No angle milling or performance enhancing work on
heads or blocks. Blocks may not be decked.
No vortex heads.
No grinding of any castings. Casting marks and
numbers may not be removed.
Stock head only.
1.86 valve maximum, 1.5 exhaust maximum.
No more than .40 valve shims allowed to obtain stock
valve height
Valve size must match head used.
No interchanging of rocker arms, ratios.
No screw in studs.
No roller cams.
“4412”Holley carb only
Stock ignition only ( Stock Working Order) No
aftermarket ignition allowed. O.E.M. distributor
only.
No center dump manifolds. Must be cast iron only.
No factory O.E.M. or aftermarket type of header
allowed.
No 1987 or newer truck manifolds.
No aftermarket balancer (stock only), no lightening
of balancer. Balancer must match motor used.
150 compression maximum
Tires:
1. Tires must be
PASSENGER tires only. No truck, all-terrain, snow
tires allowed. Passenger all weather tires allowed
and Hoosier 500 allowed, also.
2. Maximum 7”
tires, 78 series or 70 metric.
3. No shaving,
grooving or any other alteration allowed. See
alternate tire rule below.
4. Both front
wheels may be reinforced to prevent their loss
during the race. All wheels must be light colored
(chrome allowed) to be seen easier in the event of
losing a wheel during a race. All wheels MUST use
over sized lug nuts. Steel spoke wheels will be
allowed on both sides. Three (3) inch offset only.
Seven (7) inch maximum wheel width.
5. Hoosier E-Mod
tires allowed. A’s and D’s only on 7” or 8” rim.
Grooving and grinding allowed on these tires only
CARBURETION -
$250 claim on carburetor
1. “4412” 500
Holley Carb only.
2. No electric
fuel pumps. Stock fuel pumps only.
3. 3/8 maximum
diameter fuel line only.
4. No open top
air cleaners
5. Pump gas
only.
6. Carburetor
adaptor rule- maximum 1" thick aluminum spacer only.
No adjustable spacers or sliders allowed.
Transmission
and rear ends:
1. Drive shaft
must be painted white. Safety loop mandatory
towards the front of the drive shaft. Two inch wide
¼” thick continuous hoop welded or bolted to
chassis.
2. Automatic
transmissions only. Stock working torque converters
only. NO POWER GLIDES. Must have three speeds
forward and 1 reverse.
3. After market
stock replacement axles will be allowed (Mark
Williams axles or Moser axles as an example.)
MISCELLANEOUS:
1. Battery must
be strapped securely in vehicle trunk.
2. All glass and
interior must be removed PRIOR TO ARRIVAL AT THE
TRACK.
3. Loss of a
tire or wheel or flat tire means you leave the track
immediately;
4. No
unsportsmanlike display of temper on the track,
infield or in the pits at any time.
5. Full face
helmet (Snell SA2000 or newer required), fire suit,
window net and seats are mandatory at al times when
on the track.
6. No alcoholic
beverages may be consumed until ALL classes of cars
have completed racing. Violations of this rule will
result in disqualification and/or suspension .
7. ANYTHING NOT
COVERED IN THESE RULES OR THE TRACKS GENERAL RULES
WILL BE DECIDED BY TRACK OFFICIALS. ALL OFFICIAL
DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
8. 18 inch
numbers must be displayed on both doors and the
roof.
9. Steel screen
to cover at least half of the windshield opening.
Must contain a minimum of 3 ¼” diameter vertical
bars securely fastened at top and bottom. WINDOW
NETS ARE MANDATORY.
10: Random
checks will be done on any number of cars.
Motor teardown may be performed by Track on any car.
11: Exhaust must
extend beyond the driver’s seat. Oval offset
muffler ONLY. No clamps, must be welded.
12: All cars
must be safety inspected prior to being allowed to
race. If any car is found to be unsafe by race
officials, that car will NOT be allowed to race
until the infraction is corrected.
13: ANY DRIVER
UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN (18) MUST HAVE A MINOR
RELEASE FORM SIGNED BY A PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN. NO
ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 14 WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PITS.
14: Penalties:
If found illegal, fines and/or penalties will be
imposed. $200.00 fine plus a
2 race
suspension. Second offense will result in s $500.00
fine plus a 4 race suspension from the pure stock class. Also fine must be paid prior to driver
racing in any other class at Red Cedar Speedway.
