PURE STOCK RULES

The sole intent of this class is to provide a low cost entry level class. These cars are to be strictly stock and are intended to stay that way. These are cars that you race, not race cars. (ANY DEVIATION FROM THIS INTENT OR FROM THE RULES SET FORTH WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND THE CAR AND DRIVER WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE CLASS). OFFICIALS DECISIONS WILL BE FINAL. OFFICIALS WILL DEAL WITH DRIVERS ONLY. DRIVERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT OF THEIR PIT CREWS AND WILL BE PENALIZED FOR THERE INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR. Red Cedar Speedway retains the right to cancel this class at any time.

 

NOTE: Parents of minors – the driver is the spokesperson for the car (not you). WE WILL DEAL WITH THE DRIVER ONLY!

 

CAR AND BODY

1.Car must be stripped of all chrome moldings, emblems, all pot metal, plastic and fiberglass to keep the track clean. Any 1950 or newer sedan is eligible. NO PICK-UPS, RANCHEROS, EL CAMINOS, 4WD VEHICLES.

2.Minimum stock wheelbase allowed will be 108” full frame. NO CAMAROS, FIREBIRDS, ETC. 110” unibody with sub-frame installed. NO WHEEL BASE ALTERATIONS.

3. Driver protection roll bars are required. No roll bar may alter the geometry of the car in any manner. It can be used only to keep the car off the driver in the event of a roll over. Six (6) point roll cage of 1 5/8 ” tubing minimum. (Braced box.) CAGE MUST BE FRAME TO FRAME AND ABOVE DRIVERS HEAD. The cage may extend back to the rear bumper, but may not extend any farther forward then the rear of the “A” frames.

4. Gas tank must be moved to the trunk and be shielded from driver. Original tank must be removed and a fuel cell used. Pump gas only.

5. BUMPERS MUST BE ANCHORED SECURELY BY BEING WELDED, CHAINED OR BOLTED TO BODY.

6.NO SHARP EDGES. No bumper hoops – (Front or Rear)

7. No bracing of any kind any place on the car.

8. All doors must be welded, chained or bolted shut. Door bars allowed (maximum 1” x 1” x 6’).  No Sharp Edges.

9. All glass must be removed from the car. NO BROKEN GLASS LEFT IN CAR!

10. All flammable material must be removed from the car.

11.All floor pans and firewalls, both front and rear, must be in place with no cutting of any kind any place on the body. The body must remain stock and in stock position. After market body panels allowed (steal only) Wheel clearance may be cut.

12.Door, Trunk, and Hood hinges may be removed.

13. Racing seat belts with shoulder harnesses MUST be in place and used. Belts may be no older than 3 years old.

14. THE COMPLETE BUMPER TO BUMPER STOCK CAR MUST BE RETAINED. THERE WILL BE NO ALTERATION OF ANY KIND TO ANY PART OF THE CAR. NO SECTIONING, CHANNELING, CHOPPING OR ANY OTHER ALTERATION WILL BE ALLOWED. HOODS MUST BE KEPT IN PLACE AT ALL TIMES. WHEEL RADIUS ONLY MAY BE CUT. EXCEPTION – Stock rag joint may be replaced with a u-joint.

15.Driver protection bars must be on the inside of the car.

16. Aluminum radiators will be allowed.

17. Plastic nose cone (aftermarket or stock) must be used.

 SUSPENSION

No modification of suspension is allowed. All parts must be strictly stock. No spacers, no chains, no racing suspension, no added lead. Stock springs only, no racing springs allowed. 17mm wrench must fit over front spring and 14mm over rear

1. No added weight

2. NO GAS SHOCKS. NO SPACERS, CHAINS OR ALTERATIONS OF ANY KIND TO THE SUSPENSION. No racing suspensions allowed. $40.00 CLAIM ON ALL 4 SHOCKS – NO EXCHANGE, OUTRIGHT ONLY. Claim money must be in tech’s hand before race begins. See rule 13 under misc.

3. Both front wheels may be reinforced to prevent their loss during the race. All wheels must be light colored (chrome allowed) to be seen easier in the event of losing a wheel during a race. All wheels MUST use over sized lug nuts. Steel spoke wheels will be allowed on both sides. (3) or (3 1/2) inch offset only. Seven (7) inch maximum wheel width.

 

 ENGINE

1. Engines which are standard bore must use stock pistons. Engines may be bored to a maximum of .040 over the standard bore size. Stock type cast aluminum dished pistons, with a minimum recess of .040 MUST be used in any engine with an overbore. All engines, including those that are over bored from standard size must still adhere to the maximum compression rule. 9.5 compression rule, see Midwest Mod rules.

2. The engine must be same make as chassis. GM to GM, Ford to Ford-Mercury-Lincoln or Mopar to Dodge- Chrysler-Plymouth. Must have original mounts and may not be altered in any way. STOCK CAMS ONLY!

3. Motors:

a)  307 Olds, 305 Chevy, 302 Ford and 318 Mopar only.

b)  No fuel injection, except on front wheel drive cars.

c)  Stock appearing oil pans, no kickouts.

d)  410 lift rule.

e)  No angle milling or performance enhancing work on heads or blocks.

f)    No more than .40 valve shims allowed to obtain stock valve height.

g)  No Vortex heads.

h)  No grinding of any castings.

i)   Stock heads only.

j)   1.86 valve maximum, 1.5 exhaust maximum.

k)  No interchanging of rocker arms, ratios.

l)    No screw in studs.

m)     No roller cams.

n)  (4412) 500 Holley only

o)  Stock ignition only (Stock Working Order) No Locking of distributor advance.

p)  Stock aluminum or cast (4-hole) intake manifolds

q)  No center dump manifolds

r)   No 1987 or newer truck manifolds.

s)  No aftermarket balancer (stock only), no lightening of balancer.

t)  160 compression maximum

  

 TIRES

Tires must be PASSENGER tires only. No truck, all-terrain, snow tires allowed. Passenger all weather tires allowed. Hoosier 500 tires allowed.

2.       70 series or 75 metric

3.       Grinding tires allowed

4.       No shaving, grooving, sipping, or any other alterations allowed.

 

 CARBURATION - $250 claim on carburetor

      1.  “4412” 500 Holley Carb only. See Street Stock adaptor rule. Non-adjustable adaptor plate only.

2.        No electric fuel pumps.

3.       Stock fuel pumps only

4.       3/8” maximum fuel line

5.       no open-top air cleaners

6.       washable air cleaners allowed

7.       PUMP GAS ONLY!!

 

 TRANSMISSION AND REAR ENDS

1.       Stock only. Locked rear ends allowed. NO POSITRACTION OR LIMITED SLIP ALLOWED.

2.       Stock carrier with steal mini-spool allowed.

3.       No lightening of gears.

4.       Rear end must remain in stock position.

5.       Automatic transmissions only. Stock working torque converters only. NO POWER GLIDES. Must have three speeds forward and 1 reverse.

6.       No stall converters

7.       Transmission cooler must be mounted to firewall and shielded from driver!!

8.       After market stock replacement axles will be allowed (Mark Williams axles or Moser axles as an example). Mandatory on right rear!

 

 MISCELLANEOUS

1.       Battery must be strapped securely in vehicles trunk.

2.       All glass and interior must be removed PRIOR TO ARRIVAL AT THE TRACK.

3.       Loss of a tire or wheel or flat tire means you leave the track immediately.

4.       No unsportsmanlike display of temper on the track, infield or in the pits at any time.

5.       Full face Snell 95 or better rated helmet required (Snell 2000 or newer recommended), firesuit, window net and seat belts are MANDATORY AT ALL TIMES WHEN ON THE TRACK.

6.       No alcoholic beverages may be consumed until ALL classes of cars have completed racing. VIOLATIONS OF THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION AND/OR SUSPENSION.

7.       ANYTHING NOT COVERED IN THESE RULES OR THE TRACKS GENERAL RULES WILL BE DECIDED BY TRACK OFFICALS. ALL OFFICIAL DECISIONS ARE FINAL.

8.       18 INCH numbers must be displayed on both doors and the roof.

9.       Steel screen to cover at least half of the windshield opening. Must contain a minimum of 3 1/4“ diameter vertical bars securely fastened at top and bottom. WINDOW NETS ARE MANDATORY.

10.   Must be able to lock up all 4 wheels. 4 wheel brakes are MANDATORY.

11.   Drive shafts must be painted white. Safety loop MANDATORY towards the front of the  drive shaft. Two inch wide ¼ inch thick continuous hoop welded or bolted to chassis.

12.   One of the top five (5) cars from the feature will be pumped each week. If found illegal, fines and/or penalties will be imposed. FIRST OFFENSE – Loss of nights money and season points. SECOND OFFENSE - Driver will be suspended two weeks. All fines must be paid prior to a driver competing in any other class at the RED CEDAR SPEEDWAY.

13.   PROTEST: Any driver may protest one (1) car per night. $50.00 must be handed to an official BEFORE the feature race starts, along with a signed, written protest. If car is found illegal, $50.00 will be returned to the protester. If car is found legal, $50.00 goes to the legal cars driver. ALL PROTEST MUST BE MADE IN CASH. NO CHECKS.

14.   Exhaust MUST extend beyond the drivers seat. Oval offset muffler ONLY. No clamps, must be welded.

15.   You must leave the track if you loose any part of your exhaust!!

16.   All cars may be safety inspected prior to being allowed to race. If any car is found to be unsafe by race officials, that car will NOT be allowed to race until the infraction is corrected.

17.   Fire suit must be in good condition……No Holes, etc..

18.   ANY DRIVER UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN (18) MUST HAVE A MINOR RELEASE FORM SIGNED BY A PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN. NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 14 WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PITS.
